ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Two suspects have been charged in connection to the kidnapping of a 7-year-old boy in Alexander City, according to police.

Sonya Watkins, 42, of Federal Way, Washington, and Jonathan Watkins, 44, of Alexander City, are both charged with first-degree kidnapping.

Authorities say the kidnapping happened on Thursday, Sept. 18, and officers received a report about it on Friday, Sept. 19. An Emergency Missing Child Alert was issued statewide early Saturday morning for Jerico Tyrone Watkins.

Police say they were told that Sonya Watkins and Jonathan Watkins came to a home on Thomas Road where they allegedly lured the boy into a vehicle and fled.
