Fans of the Canadian Football League are on high alert today in anticipation of a press conference this afternoon promising big changes to the game.

“Commissioner Stewart Johnston will make a major announcement regarding significant changes to the game,” says a league press release that was issued on Sunday.

The mystery of what that could mean has led to plenty of online and media chatter, with some speculating it could be tweaks to the number of Canadian players on a roster, moving the goalposts to the back of the endzone or ending the rouge. Others have suggested it could be as massive as switching to four downs.
