BETHEL, Conn. (WTNH) — A Bethel woman and former teacher was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Monday for enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Sandy Carazas-Pinez, 36, was a high school teacher in Yonkers, New York. During that time, she tried to induce a student into a sexual relationship with her. He was 16 years old at the time.

Evidence shown in court revealed that Carazas-Pinez used her personal cell phone to call, text and video call the teen and tried to induce him to engage in live-streamed sexually explicit conduct while on the phone. She also would text him sexually explicit images of herself.
