LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - On Monday, the Louisville Metro Police Department officially opened the doors to its new headquarters in downtown Louisville.

The building is the former AT&T building located at 601 West Chestnut Street, between 6th and 7th Streets.

This is the first time LMPD will have a dedicated headquarters in four years. Officers moved out of the old headquarters in 2017, after an OSHA inspection found the ceiling was leaking sewage.

Since then, LMPD has been spread out across multiple buildings throughout town.

Chief Paul Humphrey said this often created chaos, making staff drive across town to attend meetings.
