LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officially moved into its new headquarters on West Chestnut Street in downtown Louisville on Monday.
LMPD's Honor Guard commemorated the occasion with a flag raising ceremony in front of the former AT&T building.
The department's former headquarters at 6th and Jefferson Streets was demolished more than two years ago. Police were working out of temporary locations, including the Edison Center on West Ormsby Street.
The chief cited deteriorating conditions which contributed to an unhealthy environment for his department, both physically and mentally.
