LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County School Board is set to finalize the budget Monday night.

The deficit has put the board and Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins under scrutiny from a frustrated public and concerned lawmakers.

State Auditor Allison Ball decided to conduct an audit after the board tried to raise an occupational tax at a meeting in May.

The district’s suspended budget director has also filed a lawsuit , saying she was retaliated against for warning about budget issues.

Dr. Liggins was grilled by lawmakers last week about the district’s financial issues.

The vote to finalize the budget will happen during Monday night’s meeting.

It’s set to start at 6.
