MONTPELIER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A state-wide burn ban has been issued, ordering all Town Forest Fire Wardens to stop supplying people with burning permits, according to Vermont's Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation.

The department issued the ban, which began at noon today. This announcement comes as most of Vermont is actively experiencing a severe drought, with many areas under a voluntary or mandatory water conservation notice.

FPR Commissioner Danielle Fitzko said in one release that “Many towns have proactively imposed burning restrictions, and we are working with our local and regional partners to raise awareness and increase preparedness.”
