WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Woonsocket police arrested 12 students for disorderly conduct at Woonsocket High School on Monday.
Deputy Police Chief Adam Remick told 12 News the arrests stemmed from four separate incidents.
"There is no explanation as to why today was such an issue," Remick said in an email.
Principal Brian Ernest sent a message to the community that said in part, "This morning, we experienced several physical altercations simultaneously at Woonsocket High School. Administrators responded immediately."
Ernest said during the fights, the school directed students and staff to shelter in place.
"All the students involved have been removed, and instructional time has resumed," Ernest added.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
