A new Covid variant is beginning to spread throughout the UK, with one symptom seemingly differentiating it from all other strains.
Stratus, otherwise known as XFG and XFG.3, accounted for around 30 per cent of cases in Britain in June, with the strain growing even further in other parts of Europe.
In Ireland, there were 425 new infections of the variant just in the first week of September alone, accounting for 76.1 per cent of reported infections compared to just 49.3 per cent six weeks ago, Ireland's Health Protection Surveillance Centre said.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has also declared it as a variant 'under monitoring' due to its 'increasing proportions globally.'
