The Stratus Covid variant has recently made headlines as the fastest growing strain currently taking hold of Britain.

Making up 30 per cent of cases in the UK in June, Stratus, otherwise known as XFG and XFG.3, has swept across not only this country but numerous other parts of Europe.

As of the first week of September, there were 425 new infections of the variant in Ireland, accounting for 76.1 per cent of reported infections compared to just 49.3 per cent six weeks ago, Ireland's Health Protection Surveillance Centre said.

It is now possible to organise getting your Covid vaccine, and for those who are eligible you can either walk-in to a centre or book an appointment this autumn-winter - however you must meet three specific criteria to qualify, according to the NHS .
