NORMAN — Jackson Arnold didn't have it easy Saturday.

Coming back to play against his former team, where last season was a struggle, with fans jeering from the moment he stepped on the field? That’s the tough task Arnold was faced with.

But the now-Auburn quarterback handled his return to Oklahoma exceptionally well. He completed 21-of-32 (65%) passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in the 24-17 loss to the Sooners. Auburn coach Hugh Freeze was largely pleased with Arnold’s performance, given the adverse environment.

“I don’t think he had any concern whatsoever for the pre-whatever we call it,” Freeze said. “I think he was more concerned about that Oklahoma defense, like we all were. That was tough sledding. We’ll have to watch the film to see
