Reno-Tahoe will start the week sunny and warm before showers and storms become possible midweek.
Highs will reach the 80s in Reno and 70s around Tahoe through Tuesday. The National Weather Service said a system moving into California could pull moisture north late Wednesday into Thursday, with the first showers reaching the eastern Sierra by late Wednesday afternoon or evening and spreading into the Tahoe Basin and near Interstate 80 overnight.
The best storm chances Thursday are in Alpine and Mono counties and southern Douglas, Lyon and Mineral counties, where odds range from 30–60%. Lesser chances of 15–30% extend to the rest of the eastern Sierra and western Nevada, mainly from I-80 southward.
Precipitation chances drop again Friday as dry, warm weather returns for the weekend.
