LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) - Criminal suspects in New Hampshire will now likely face stiffer bail thanks to a new law that went into effect over the weekend.
The bail law was the first piece of legislation signed by New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte back in March.
It rolls back bail reform legislation made seven years ago by, among other things, giving judges more discretion when considering whether to hold someone accused of a violent crime.
Lebanon Police Chief Phil Roberts was one of more than 70 chiefs across the state who signed a letter supporting the new law.
