Jefferson Parish residents in need of housing assistance have the rare opportunity to get on the parish's waitlist for its Housing Choice Voucher Program, commonly known as Section 8, through Tuesday.

The Jefferson Parish Housing Services Development District has opened its online applications for the program's waiting list until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday to provide rental assistance to eligible families, seniors and people with disabilities.

The agency strongly encourages residents to apply as soon as possible, as the application period is brief and demand is expected to be high.
