RED LODGE, Mont. – A young bull moose in Red Lodge was darted and anesthetized by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) after its antlers became tangled in an electrical extension cord, FWP said in a release .

Wildlife staff said the entangled cord started affecting the moose's mobility, prompting FWP's intervention.

After darting the animal on Friday, the moose was quickly immobilized, allowing staff to remove the cord and attach an ear tag.

The ear tag, a standard procedure, includes an individual number and instructs anyone who harvests the animal to contact FWP before consumption.

This is due to the immobilization drugs making the animal unsafe for human consumption for a time.
