ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — Some families in Ansonia said they were left in shock after someone vandalized the gravesites of their loved ones at Pine Grove Cemetery over the weekend.
The cemetery's manager said that 30 to 40 of the tombstones were vandalized, with decorations removed and discarded.
Flowers, flags, lights and other decorations were taken and scattered around the cemetery. Superintendent Eddy Jones said that around five to 10 families have come throughout the weekend to recover items from the graves.
None of the tombstones were damaged.
There has not been an arrest yet, although police said they have a suspect and are working on securing a warrant.
"It's very disheartening to all of us: myself and my crew," Jones said. "We pride ourselves in really taking care of this place
