Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard says a stolen utility vehicle was recovered and two suspects were arrested late Saturday night. It happened shortly before 11:00 at the intersection of Spur 272 and County Road 4141 in Deweyville.
The sheriff said a deputy stopped a Honda Pioneer UTV which was being illegally operated on a public roadway, and the deputy soon determined that the UTV was stolen.
The occupants of the UTV were Dean Daugherty and Brandi Wilson. The report said as the deputy was placing the man into custody, the woman took off running, but she was quickly captured and arrested.
Daugherty was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Wilson was charged with Evading Arrest.
