A man who was sentenced to prison for 13 years after being convicted shooting and killing a man here in Jasper in December of 2018 is back in town after being on the run after being accidentally released from jail in Beaumont.

Justin Keith DeBourgeoise, who was found guilty in the shooting of Christopher Spikes was in jail in Colorado.

The arrest and conviction of DeBourgeoise came years after Spikes' body was found on Hi-Truitt Road on the north side of Jasper.

Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard announced Monday that following the filing extradition requests, deputies from his department went to Cannon City, Colorado on Monday and brought Justin Keith DeBourgeois back to Jasper.
