CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) A suspended Charleston County magistrate judge facing child sexual exploitation charges will remain behind bars after waiving his federal detention hearing Monday afternoon.
James Gosnell Jr., 68, was arrested Sept. 16 after a Department of Homeland Security investigation linked an account associated with him to a known distributor of child sexual abuse material in the United Kingdom. Agents raided his home and confiscated a flash drive with hundreds of photos and videos of children in sexually explicit situations.
Agents also confiscated Gosnell's iPhone, which investigators report had conversations on Telegram in which Gosnell allegedly admitted to not only possessing the photos and videos, but to abusing children himself on multiple occasions. This included chi
