ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Delta Air Lines flight had to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday after experiencing sparks coming from the aircraft’s engine.

According to the airline, flight 682 from Atlanta to Sacramento, California, returned to the airport shortly after takeoff due to a mechanical issue.

The malfunction was caught on camera by a passenger on the flight, as it showed sparks coming from where the plane’s engine is located.

The airline said the Boeing aircraft, which had six crew members and 152 customers on board, “landed safely and taxied to the gate under its own power.” The flight was on an operational delay on Monday morning.
