HONOLULU (Island News) – The man accused of killing his mother and her dog back in 2020, was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree.

The Honolulu Prosecutor’s Office announced on Monday that an Oahu jury convicted 39-year-old Jamil Hart for brutally killing his 74-year-old mother, Gwendolyn Hara-Hart.

On February 23, 2020, Officials reported that Hart stabbed his mother and her dog in Hara-Hart’s home, resulting in their deaths. Hart was also convicted of Attempted Burglary in the First Degree and Cruelty to Animals in the First Degree.

“This conviction demonstrates our office’s commitment to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm.
