BANGOR, Maine — Eastern Maine Community College President Liz Russell, who spent more than three decades helping the school grow and expand its programs, has died, the college announced Monday.
Russell's retirement was announced earlier this month.
"Liz was more than a leader to Eastern Maine Community College. She was a mentor, a colleague, and a friend," acting president Dr. Janet Sortor said in a letter to the community. "For over three decades, she devoted herself to this school and to the people who make up our community. Her warmth, humor, and compassion touched the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff."
