LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Kansas wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr. made some noise on special teams for the Jayhawks this past weekend.

Henderson Jr., who serves as KU’s kickoff return specialist, was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The Alabama transfer returned the opening kick of the second half for a 94-yard touchdown and also had a second kickoff return of 43 yards. The touchdown return gave Kansas a 27-3 lead over West Virginia early in the third quarter.

It was the first kickoff return touchdown for the Jayhawks since 2020.

Henderson Jr. also had a team-high six receptions for 38 yards in the 41-10 victory over West Virginia. He leads KU in receiving yards and kick return yards.

The 3-1 Jayhawks will play Cincinnati on Saturday at 11
