Weapons, East Pleasant Valley Road
Police conducted a welfare check on a driver parked in the middle of the roadway on East Pleasant Valley Road at 7:27 a.m. Aug. 17. The driver was asleep behind the wheel when officers arrived and awoke and began “playing with his phone” when they approached. The officers asked him to get out of the car, adding that he could not park in the middle of the roadway. A loaded handgun and an open container of alcohol were found inside the vehicle, and the man was arrested and charged with using weapons while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business, slow speed and driving under suspension. Reports noted the man also had a warrant out of the Medina Police Department.
