GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is aiming to expand in West Michigan, according to a solicitation from the General Services Administration (GSA).

The solicitation, posted Sept. 16 by the GSA, is seeking lease options in 19 cities—including Grand Rapids—with furnished office space to support administrative law enforcement operations.

Three GSA employees who anonymously spoke to NPR said the posting is looking for long-term office spaces for ICE across the U.S.

The lease term would be 10 years.

The expansion comes as President Donald Trump's budget bill allocated $350 billion for his border and national security agenda. The funding would be used to build more detention centers and hire 10,000 more officers with the goal of deporting 1 million peopl
