The Republican legislature of Pennsylvania can only see the dollar costs that are in front of them. Most all of them ignore the background costs of their stubbornness. They fail to take responsibility for the fact that taxes have to be raised, so now the local governments have to raise the property taxes to provide services that should be should be provided at the state level.

They ignore the fact that SEPTA provides a lifeline for many people employed in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, as well as for people who work in the suburbs. It doesn’t matter that school children have to find a way to school in those cities.
