The New York Giants are making a change at quarterback after starting the 2025 NFL season with an 0-3 record.
Veteran Russell Wilson will be heading to the bench after making three starts. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by first-round rookie Jaxson Dart.
Dart played six snaps for the Giants over the first three weeks of the 2025 NFL season. The Giants used the 22-year-old rookie in certain packages to run read-option plays and designed quarterback runs. He didn't attempt a pass while running the ball twice for no yards.
Now, Dart will get a chance to show what he can do as a full-time player. Meanwhile, Wilson will look to settle into a new role with the Giants quarterback room.
Here's how New York's depth chart is going to shake out after Dart's elevation.

Below is a look at the new projected pecking order of the Giants' three-man quarterback room:
- Jaxson Dart
- Russell Wilson
- Jameis Winston
Wilson has been demoted below Dart, but the 36-year-old is expected to be New York's backup quarterback, according to multiple reports. That will leave Winston in the third-string quarterback role he has occupied since the start of the season.
Russell Wilson stats 2025
During his three starts with the Giants, Wilson completed 59.1% of his passes for 778 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. His 78.5 passer rating ranked 24th out of 31 qualified quarterbacks while Pro Football Focus graded him as the 24th overall quarterback out of 36 qualifiers.
The Giants will be hoping Dart can deliver better results, starting with his Week 4 game against a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense.
