BURTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A school locked down on Tuesday morning after a staff member found a bullet on the floor of the hallway in Geauga County,

According to a release from Berkshire Schools in Burton, the staff member found a single .22LR cartridge, a bullet for a long rifle, on the floor.

The release said the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) searched the schools with multiple K9s. The GCSO did not find any more bullets or firearms.

Berkshire Schools said the school was on lockdown for 34 minutes.

Students resumed a normal school day after the search. Dismissal for students will also occur around 3 p.m. as usual.

The GCSO will remain on scene for the rest of the school day.

“As always, our district is committed to the safety and education of all our students,” the release said.
