CHICO — A Chico man was arrested on suspicion of killing his father, who reportedly called 911 stating, “Don’t shoot me,” according to a news release Tuesday from Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest came after sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 4:54 p.m. Monday near the 2600 block of West Sacramento Ave., where they found a man dead — Lenny Doe, 54 — and a suspected shooter, Matthew Theobald, 35.
According to the release, sheriff’s deputies determined Doe was Theobald’s father and was the person on the phone with 911.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey told this newspaper Theobald was on active parole for battery on a correctional deputy at Butte County Jail, for which he was sentenced to three years in prison on Feb. 23, 2023.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Theob
