WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A 21-year-old man accused of failing to stop at the scene of a deadly crash in which a pickup hit a bicycle last week in downtown Wichita made his first appearance on Tuesday in Sedgwick County District Court. A judge formally charged the Wichita man, Blaine Lee Hughes, with one count of leaving the scene of an accident.

In the crash last Wednesday (Sept. 17), Wichita police responded to a hit-and-run, reported at about 9 p.m., near Broadway and Murdock. When officers arrived, they found 57-year-old Daniel Forshey lying in the roadway. Forshey died at the scene.

Police interviewed witnesses and found footage of a suspect vehicle, a white Dodge Ram 1500 that reportedly hit Forshey on his bicycle, going east on Murdock. After the crash, police said the suspect allege
