Police have recovered human remains from a property following a massive blaze in Aberdeenshire. ‌

Emergency crews raced to Harbour Road in Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire , at around 5am on September 18. ‌

A man was rescued and rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment but a woman who was in the house at the time of the fire could not be found. ‌

However, Police Scotland announced tonight, Tuesday, September 23, that human remains were recovered within the building this afternoon, six days after the fire broke out.

The woman's next of kin has been informed but formal identification has yet to take place. ‌

Officers said that a specialist team continues to work at the scene.
