AMES, Iowa —

Iowa State point guard Tamin Lipsey will be out of action for 4 to 6 weeks after injuring his right knee in practice Tuesday.

The senior from Ames suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain to his right knee, according to a news release from Iowa State.

Lipsey averaged 10.6 points, 3.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game and was an honorable mention All-American selection last season for the Cyclones, who spent most of the season ranked in the AP's Top 10 and finished 17th in the final poll after losing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

According to the recovery timeline ISU provided, if Lipsey is out 4 weeks, he'd miss an exhibition game Oct. 17 at Creighton. If he's out 6 weeks, he'd also miss an exhibition Oct. 26 in Ames against Northwestern and the season opener at home No
