LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - After refusing to show up to court several times , a man accused of killing a Louisville Paving and Construction worker and shooting an off-duty Louisville Metro Police Department officer in the face is now on trial.

Keyshaun Stewart is charged with murder, attempted murder of a police officer, wanton endangerment, and fleeing and evading police. A jury will soon determine whether he is guilty of killing Fred O’Bannon and injuring Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) sergeant Chris Lane.

The prosecution argues Stewart fatally shot O’Bannon, a father of five who was working at a construction site on I-264 and the Dixie Highway overpass, while sitting in his car in the early morning hours of November 19, 2021.
