Jimmy Kimmel returns to late-night TV on Sept. 23, a week after Disney suspended his ABC show “ Jimmy Kimmel Live! ” in the wake of comments he made after the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk .

ABC parent Disney announced the return of the show on Sept. 22.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country ,” Disney said in a Monday, Sept. 22, statement to USA TODAY. “We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
