SALLISAW, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Sallisaw hospital had its roof blown off during severe weather that moved through the area Sept. 23.

Northeastern Health System Sequoyah evacuated 14 patients after it suffered major damage during the storm, according to director of operations Eric Carter.

Carter says 12 patients were evacuated to their homes, and two others were sent to other local hospitals.

Carter also says the hospital is setting up a mobile emergency room.

The city of Sallisaw says all available crews are working to restore services to residents and businesses as quickly and safely as possible.

The city says a "significant" number of trees and power lines and poles are down. Restoration efforts will take some time.
