SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — South County Health announced it will soon have more permanent oncology providers than at any point in the organization's history.

The staffing increases come more than a year after nearly the entire oncology department resigned, citing “irreconcilable differences with management” in a letter addressed to the Board of Trustees.

On Tuesday, the hospital shared that Dr. Gerald Colvin will return to serve as the Medical Director of the South County Health Cancer Center, and will be joined by three more permanent oncology providers.

In a press release, South County Health noted that there will be a total of seven medical oncology providers, two radiation oncologists, one surgical oncologist and one breast surgeon.
