A 5-year-old girl died from drowning at Fairview Lake, authorities said Tuesday.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Gresham Fire personnel responded around 11:25 a.m. to reports of a child in the lake by a home in the 20000 block of Northeast Lakeside Drive.

Deputies and fire personnel found the girl unresponsive when they arrived, said Deputy John Plock, a sheriff’s office spokesperson.

Fire personnel provided CPR and life-saving support for more than an hour at the lake and as the girl rode in an ambulance to a hospital, according to Gresham spokesperson Nate Jones.

But Plock said the child could not be revived.
