PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Autumn is here and winter is now trying to slip into parts of the Pacific Northwest next week.

A cooler and rainy weather pattern next week will not only bring autumn conditions to the Pacific Northwest, but possibly snow to Oregon's highest mountain peaks. Cooler temperatures are hinting at some models to lower snow elevations down to nearly 6,000.'

Last year, Mt. Hood saw its first big measurable snowfall of the season on October 17, 2024. Next week's snow potential isn't expected to be accumulative, but a light dusting is possible over the peak.

Even though Mt. Hood isn't expected to look dramatically different next week, it is a sign of the changing seasons. The chance to see accumulative snow will continue to increase for the Mt. Hood area as autumn continu
