WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — The Connecticut Department of Labor reported that despite 900 jobs being added in August, the state’s labor force is still declining.

Last Thursday, CTDOL released its August jobs report, which estimated that Connecticut employers added 900 jobs last month.

The report also shared that the private sector hit a new high at 1,484,400 payroll jobs, while total jobs remain slightly below their 2008 high.

The department revised July’s numbers to show 800 jobs gained, which is 100 greater than was first reported.

While the national unemployment rate rose to 4.3%, Connecticut’s unemployment is lower than the national average and remains at 3.8%.
