Supporters of state treasurer and Republican gubernatorial candidate Stacy Garrity rallied in McCandless on Tuesday night as part of a statewide campaign tour, with the race for governor heating up even before Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro has announced a widely expected re-election bid.

Before making her pitch to rejuvenate Harrisburg with what Ms. Garrity described as business- and family-friendly policies, dozens of boisterous supporters and party leaders filled the bustling Cadence Clubhouse taproom holding Garrity campaign signs or chatting over beers and cocktails under TV screens featuring Ms. Garrity’s campaign slogan: “Help is on the way!”
