MONETT, Mo. — Heavy rain and thunderstorms have been hitting Barry County, leading to flooding and road closures.

Heavy rain caused the Little Flat Creek to overflow onto Route C after Route VV. Barricades are set up on both sides to prevent drivers from trying to pass, which officials say could lead to accidents.

A man who lives near the road said the same stretch flooded in the spring, causing barriers to be moved back and forth and making it an unreliable road to travel.

In Monett, Caleb Griffith said rain earlier Tuesday was so heavy that the parking lot at his workplace flooded, making it difficult to leave. He said the conditions have persisted for several days and can get intense.
