A couple who died overnight after a vehicle and Amtrak train collided in Pass Christian were identified as Douglas "Chase" Craddock and Tavianna "Tavi" Ellegant by the Coroner's Office.

Craddock, 31, and Ellegant, 24, were both from Long Beach, Mississippi, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said. Their preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Amtrak officials told WLOX-TV in Biloxi Tuesday night that the crash occurred around 7 p.m. They said the car was obstructing the tracks at Davis Avenue in Pass Christian.

Craddock and Ellegant were inside the car, Pass Christian Police Chief Darren Freeman told the Gazebo Gazette. Ellegant, the passenger, was declared dead on scene while Craddock was taken to a local hospital, where he died, Switzer said.
