CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Falls Public Safety has announced its partnership with the Pink Patch Project to support breast cancer awareness throughout October.

The Pink Patch Project (PPP) is a nationwide collaboration among hundreds of public safety agencies, started by the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association.

Public Safety teams participate in the Pink Patch Project by having the option to replace their standard uniform patches with a bright pink version throughout October.

The patches are intended to encourage communication among citizens about the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

In October, a police patrol car featuring pink stripes and a pink ribbon will be used daily by officers while on patrol.
