A family in Downeast Maine had an unusual rescue happen on their land after a young bull moose fell down a well that has not been used for decades.
Delaney Gardner said her family recently bought a 100-acre property in Pembroke and they did not realize they had a well until her 15-year-old stepbrother saw antlers moving around in some bushes.
"He called my stepdad, his dad, and they got close enough and realized there's a well on the property that we didn't know about, and the moose was stuck down in there," Gardner said.
Game wardens arrived and had to tranquilize the moose to get the animal out. The wardens rushed to strap the moose up and lift it out of the well with an excavator before it woke up.
"From injection to walking off, you know, it was just over an hour," said Steve Dunha
