A teenager has been charged after an alleged antisemitic assault on a 66-year-old man on a train in Sydney's CBD earlier this week.

Officers began investigating after reports of an alleged assault on a train travelling towards Town Hall Station at around 4.20pm on Monday.

Police were told two men allegedly approached the 66-year-old man as he was walking towards the train exit.

The pair allegedly threatened the man multiple times at knifepoint about his religion before assaulting him and fleeing the scene.

The man was assisted by Transport for NSW staff before reporting the incident at the Day Street Police Station.

Around 2.45pm yesterday, police officers arrested a 16-year-old boy after executing a search warrant at an address on Orient Road in Padstow.

He was taken to Bankstown
