SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)- Shreveport Council members unanimously voted yes to pass the Film and Entertainment District Gateway Economic Development District.

The district will be part of downtown, including the Red River District, the old Millennium studio, and Stage Works, as well as other downtown areas. Many of the areas or owned or leased by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

City officials say 50 Cent is willing to invest around $50 million into the Shreveport Downtown area.

He wanted assurances from the city that they were on board and the council hopes this new district shows they are.

Tabatha Taylor said, "We're going to see a total re-birthing of the downtown area G Unit studios, Curtis "50 Cent" has made his mark here in Shreveport, Louisiana."
