MLB star David Fry has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a 99mph fastball.

The Cleveland Guardians slugger was struck hard in the face by a pitch from Detroit Tigers star Tarik Skubal.

Fry was at the plate in the sixth inning with Cleveland trailing 2-1.

The 29-year-old attempted a bunt, but horrible misjudged the pitch.

Fry was struck hard just below his nose and immediately dropped to the ground.

A shocked Skubal put his hands to his mouth as Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt and trainers rushed onto the field.

The Guardians designated hitter was in the dirt for several minutes as medics attended to his bloodied face.

He was eventually carted from the field and taken immediately to Lutheran Medical Center.
