SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - At the September 22 Springfield city council meeting, two bills accepted grants to bring more jobs to Springfield that will fill critical gaps, set the next generation up for success, and help out a neighboring county with storm recovery.
The two grants are a State Apprenticeship Grant for $50,000 and a National Emergency Grant for $460,068. Both come from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development’s Office of Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning, the NEG coming to MDHEWD from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The NEG will pay for wages, supplies, equipment, and training for six positions designed to help clean up and restoration efforts in Webster County. Severe storms caused serious damage in March and early April this year. Webster Count
