(FOX40.COM) — The man convicted of killing an Amazon truck driver in 2023 was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison on Tuesday, according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.

Officials said dash camera footage revealed that Andrew Watson merged onto northbound Interstate 5 in Lathrop and was driving erratically.

He was found guilty of positioning his vehicle next to an Amazon truck, firing shots, and killing the driver.

Watson fled, and the victim's truck veered off the freeway. Officials said evidence, such as surveillance footage, witness accounts and cell phone records sealed Watson's fate.
