GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WKRG) — George County School District administrators said they are increasing the law enforcement presence at their schools after being "alerted to a potential threat of violence."

According to a GCSD news release, the threat, made on Sept. 22, was not targeted at a specific school or person.

Administrators said GCSD police, local law enforcement officers, and Homeland Security began an investigation into the threat, which was found not to be credible.

"We appreciate the support and quick response of our local agencies, who worked collectively to ensure the safety of our students," read the release.
